With the assistance of the EUCCI, the NGO "SEMA Ukraine" has passed legal registration
"SEMA Ukraine received the official status of a non-governmental organization. Specialists from the Eastern Ukrainian Center for Civil Initiatives helped the newly created NGO prepare for legal registration.
SEMA Ukraine united women who survived sexual and gender-based violence during the Russian-Ukrainian war. The activists set out to protect the rights of the victims, represent their interests in dialogue with the authorities, provide them with psychological support and help them socialize. SEMA also plans to achieve official status for victims of sexual and gender-based violence.
The decision to establish the NGO was made during the founding meeting. The chairman and board members were elected at the same time. The head of SEMA Ukraine is Iryna Dovhan.

"Our organization is growing. Since the beginning of the full-scale aggression, the number of women survivors of violence has increased, so we have redirected our activities to finding new victims to support them," said the head of SEMA Ukraine.
For a long time, SEMA Ukraine has been actively supported by the Eastern Ukrainian Center for Civil Initiatives. Representatives of the center helped the affected women to unite in a community, organized regular trainings during which activists learned to build relationships within the organization, studied the legal framework governing NGOs in Ukraine, got acquainted with the experience of women's organizations outside Ukraine, etc.
It should be noted that the EUCCI plans to continue to support the activities of SEMA Ukraine. Members of SEMA Ukraine together with the experts of the EUCCI are involved in the development of a manual for victims. Activists of the two organizations are jointly developing a toolkit for assessing medical services that the state has committed to provide to victims of sexual violence.
